Tips for writing a University application essay

 So you need to write an essay for your university application? This sounds daunting for most people, but this may not be the case if you follow some of out tips on how to write an essay for your College / University application.

Most colleges would require them to submit an essay or personal statement as part of the application process. It is quite clear to most students applying to college, I believe.

With that in mind, you may want to take into account that this is your one (and in some cases only) opportunity that can differentiate a no from a yes answer to your application. Your College or University essay will help you set your application apart from the other candidates, that may look on paper as good as you. This is of course along with other application documents submitted, such as extracurricular activities and letters of recommendation.

Most of the admission committees rely greatly on your high school / secondary school test scores, however many of the more selective colleges would receive a lot of applications from worthy students with scores similar to yours.
They obviously have a quota they can fill and can’t accept all students.

This is where your essay comes to place.

Whilst to most this is understandably something that is considered more of a chore than an appreciated part of the application process, and whilst it is not a short one as well and can be time-consuming it is a crucial part of the College / University application.

Tip number 1 – Choosing a subject for your university essay 

How to choose a subject? This is perhaps more important than you realise. One of the best strategies for choosing a subject for your University application is to … wait for it … by picking a subject you CARE about.

Why is that important? when you choose a subject you feel passionate about, in order to write an essay for your University application, you have the opportunity to show a different pan to your personality.

This aspect of your personality cannot come out of your report card.
